CLAY COUNTY GATOR CLUB SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
Eligibility The Clay County Gator Club Scholarships Program is limited to: 1. High School Seniors whose parent/guardian or relative are members in good standing of the Clay County Club, and who will graduate from High School at the end of the current school year (May-June). 2.The student must be accepted and enrolled at UF by the first day of the Fall term. 3. The student’s parent/guardian or relative must be members in good standing of the Clay County Gator Club by Nov 1st of the year of application.
Application The application must be completed by the student and returned with two letters of recommendation to the Clay County Gator Club by April 15th of the current year. Mail to: The Clay County Gator Club Attn: Cheryl Nix PO Box 2011 Orange Park, Florida 32067
Scholarships There are several $500 scholarships available through the Clay County Gator Club. We currently offer four Memorial Scholarships that are presented in memory of Jack Lee, Sandy Horne, Graham Spurrier, and Dan Robinson. The recipients may reapply for up to three years; preferably maintaining a 3.0 average, while continuing to be a full time student in good standing with the University of Florida. The parent/guardian or relative must also remain Club Sponsors in good standing of the Clay County Gator Club. The recipient who reapplies must provide a copy of his/her latest transcript with grades and a written request as to why he/she is in need of the scholarship. All selections will be up to the discretion of the Scholarship committee.
Qualifications Scholastic records, activities, community service and recommendations are the primary considerations. Finalists may be called in for an interview.
Selection A scholarship committee will evaluate and make a final selection of the recipients, The scholarship committee will be chaired by the VP of scholarships, who will in turn appoint 3 Clay County Gator club members to the committee. No member may serve on this committee if said member is related to an applicant. The chairman will make copies of the applications and submit a copy to each committee member for review before a final selection is made.
Notification Scholarship awards notification will be made at the applicable school awards ceremonies. A certificate indicating the scholarship award will be presented to the scholarship winners. If the school does not have and end of the year award ceremony for it’s seniors, notification will be sent by mail on or about May 11th 2008. All recipients will be invited to attend our awards night presentation at our regular meeting in June.
Disbursement All funds will be placed in the UF office of student financial affairs for distribution to scholarship recipients.
Renewals Again, all students reapplying must provide a copy of their latest transcripts with grades and a written request as to why they need this scholarship.
